outdoor sport, coleman tentMy husband's brother called him last night wondering if we'd like to go canoing this weekend. We kicked the idea around a little and decided that it might be pretty fun to load up the canoe on the rack and engage in this peaceful outdoor sport. We love to be on the water in the summer because it is so much cooler, and we started thinking that we might even want to go for an overnight canoing trip. The lake nearest our home has camping sites all along its shore, and it's a beautiful place. All we'd need to bring along is our Coleman tent, the cooler, our solar oven, and some lightweight sleeping bags. Of course, we'd need the bed rolls, too. We are not into suffering the rocky, hard ground. It could be a wonderful way to spend a couple of days on the water. When we are outdoors we like to use the solar oven to cook our food because it doesn't take up much room and it creates no pollution. We can put it in the center of the canoe, get food out of the Coleman cooler, and cook food as we paddle to the campsite. Then we'll set up camp, eat dinner, and enjoy an utterly relaxing evening sitting around a very small campfire, listening to the sounds of the lake lapping at the shore. Sounds like a great way to enjoy a fun outdoor sporting trip just eight miles from home.
